Big News in the Port household........Boden officially has his papers in and we are excitedly awaiting his call for his mission!

As for Summer...........it has found us at the aquatic center enjoying the sunshine, at the kids matinee movies, the library, southern Idaho for the 4th of July, picking raspberries and then making yummy freezer jam, going on a rafting trip, enjoying the local beaches, bonfires in our backyard, feeding the ducks, reading lots of books, and enjoying our days together.....I really enjoyed the kids this summer and Im not just saying that!

I couldnt believe it when I checked my blog and realized it had almost been an entire year since I posted!

The PORTS are alive and well! Jeff is busy with Adele's mini storage and he recently added Uhaul to his list of jobs. Lacey (me) has been busy going to school, doing real estate, crafting, and adding Bunco to my list of LOVES! Boden is in Southern Idaho working on a ranch, playing drums in his band (the Harper's Harping), and preparing for a mission. Dylan just graduated high school (yay) and he is getting ready to start a semester at LCSC....with me...lol. Sierra is working hard to catch up on her credits and has been spending alot of time with her brothers this summer. Dalton's babe ruth team just won the Championship and he is busy trying to win the hearts of the ladies. Dakota turned 12 this year and he has been enjoying reading and going to Wenatchee Wild games. Preston graduated Preschool and is looking forward to be the only real Power Ranger in Kindergarten. Parker is our busy boy....loving the outdoors, mickey mouse, pickles, and he has an annoying fascination with dumping out the shampoos in the shower!

Slacker!

I know that I have been a slacker and I figured you all deserved an update. I have to tell you that when I was going through my pictures I realized that I needed to take more pictures of Dylan. The only one I had taken recently was blurry! Anyhow Dylan is busy with his lawn mowing business this summer and has been a fantastic help with his little brothers! Sierra has spent the summer so far playing softball for the traveling team Valley Sting and worrying her parents! She recently has moved in with her mom. This has been very hard for us but I am glad she gets to be with her mom.
Dalton has turned 12 and loves his suit! He takes his new deacon responsibilities very seriously!

Boden came home for the 4th and showed us how hungry and tired his semester at BYU-I has made him! But he continues to make us very proud!

Parker turned 1! He is our little man who loves top ramen, soy milk, and anything chocolate! He loves the outdoors too...if he hears a door open he goes running hoping to make it through it. He is a daddy's boy!

Preston is our awnry 4 year old! He is spending the summer working on his golden brown tan. He spends almost all day outside swimming, playing, or going to work with dad!

Dakota shined this year at the 4th of July breakfast taking part in the flag raising! Dakota has been spending alot of time at the aquatic center this summer and is looking forward to a trip to wenatchee with his grandpa this week.

BIG NEWS for me! Eclipse came out! Loved it! But other then eclipse I have been very busy with work. (We seem to be having issues with lenders and appraisers right now, which has proved to make my job a little harder). When I am not working I am enjoying watching my family enjoy life.

And by the way.........I HAVE A YARD NOW! I cant tell you how relieved I am to have a yard for my kids to play in! No more dirt!

The Ports have moved! Thats right we are all together again in our OWN house! We are working hard to make this little house our home. While we are having a little bit of a hard time squeezing 8 people into a house half the size of our last we are making due. Between moving and my camera being broke I have not been keeping up on my blog. Ill do better soon I promise!

This past week I have been busy with school, sick children, cleaning my new house, and packing the house I am in.

With all that has been going on I have enjoyed the little moments this week......Parker discovering bubbles for the first time, Preston asking me to keep one of his secrets, Boden telling me he is fasting(loving the fact that he is an adult and making these amazing spiritual decisions on his own), watching Dylan be so loving with his baby brother, watching Sierra making a right decision even when it is hard for her, Enjoying Cody's endless conversation in the car (I know someday I will have to force words out of him.) Laughing with Dalton and listening to him sing. Jeff coming home with a fresh hair cut and looking at me waiting for my approval.

These are the little moments that turn into the big memories!

I absolutely love watching this boy grow! But lately it seems if I blink then I miss something. His teeth seem like they came in over night! For the most part he is a good teether! Not to much complaining! He is pulling himself up on things and standing....crawling everywhere! I love this little man and I am so glad he is mine!

This year I have been Baking up a storm for Valentines Day! It seems we need cookies for every event! But I really do enjoy baking! On the other side of the coin....I bought some skinny jeans today and with all this baking I am not sure if they are still going to fit! Parker is thoroughly enjoying his first Valentines holiday and all the goodies that come along with it!

Bummer that this turned out sideways! But it takes so long to upload here....Im Keepn it.

Preston has decided that he cant kiss me anymore in public...and not only that....he will only kiss me at home if I promise not to tell anyone. My heart is broken! What happened? Where did my little boy go that adored my kisses? I keep reminding him that I am his best friend...he then so politely reminds me that I "am not his friend I am his mom." Oh how I love this little boy and I kiss him every chance I get...wether he likes it or not!

So here it is! My second digital scrap page....to answer some questions I got the designs from the shabby shoppe and I use adobe elements photoshop. I got photoshop for $50 on ebay...it is about a $20-$50 savings. I am far from the perfect scrapper but I am getting the hang of it I think. And at the end of the year I plan to put them into a book!

Today we started 9am church and it was fast Sunday.......which resulted in the Ports being 20 minutes late for church and wearing our bad attitudes all over our faces. I have to admit I had a few seconds of the thought..."why do we do this?" And then when Preston ran up to me after church so excited to show me the new "CTR" ring that his teacher gave him and tell me what it means. It made it all worth it and reminded me of why we make the efforts that we do! It also made me appreciate his teacher and her efforts to teach my son whats important.

Then we came home and did something else important....made chocolate chip cookies.
(Dont worry I didnt brake my fast for these...I waited and it was worth it).

{Parker Jaxon is 7 months....and some}

Parker is very in love with his mom, mash potatoes and gravy, and his first tooth. Parker loves his brothers and sister...it seems the more going on around him the happier he is. He rolls from one side of the room to the other...who needs to crawl when you can roll...right?

As a mother who had to go to extreme lengths and pay big money for my babies I try to enjoy every milestone. There was so many tears shed and sleepless nights wondering if I was going to be able to have the experience of pregnancy and childbirth and seeing pieces of me and my husband in a child. I got pregnant with Preston first try with IVF and it was smooth sailing so I kindof thought thats how it would be when trying for baby #2. The next try wasnt so easy. After 1 failed FET and 1 failed IVF I found myself once again pleading to my Heavenly Father for a baby. We began another fresh IVF cycle. I went to Spokane for my embryo transfer. Before the transfer the doctor comes in and shows you pictures of your embryos and talks to you about thier quality...etc. I had always had perfectly graded A embryo's. This time he told me he was shocked that my embryos were low quality B embryos. I was devasted and felt defeated right away. What? Why? During my transfer its all I could think about...and on bed rest for 24 hours after the transfer I laid in a hotel room bed...and thats all I could think about (Grade B)...I had planned to do everything I did when I was successful with Preston...right down to eating Salmon for dinner that night. But I wondered if any of it would even matter. I even spent hundreds of dollars on accupuncture just hoping that would make the difference. And now I was being faced with Grade B. About four days after transfer I decided I was going to take a Pregnancy test...I always test before the blood test because I dont want to find out from a nurse, I want the privelage of finding out in the privacy of my own bathroom like everybody else. I took the test and nothing...but it was early. A few hours later I took the test out of the garbage can...eeewwwhh...I know. And there was a second line. I didnt get to excited thinking it might be an evaporation line. So I took another test that night and the line popped up right away...and then a digital one that read...Pregnant. I was so ecxited. When my blood test results came back I only had a beta HCG of 56....wow low. Jeff was gone so I went to my brother in law and asked for a blessing. And he blessed me that with the help of doctors that this would be a successful pregnancy. Relief! Then two days later (It is supposed to atleast double.), I had an HCG level of 66. Devastation! The nurse basically told me it was going to be a DUDD! What now? What about my blessing? This was a huge test of faith for me. I have to admit I think I failed miserably initially. I then had to wait 4 days for another HCG test...after 4 days filled with prayers and tears I got the call...my numbers were will into the 400's...and from there it continued. At about 11 weeks I then had to have emergency surgeory to remove my left ovary after an ovarian torsion. The doctor wasnt sure the baby would make it and kept telling me so. Again I had a priesthood blessing...I knew it would be okay....and Parkers little heart beat was the most amazing sound I heard after my surgeory. Parker is my miracle. He defied my doctors and fought to be here in my arms. I LOVE YOU PARKER JAXON and you are a grade A BABY!!!!

I just loved this cute stencil idea. You could pretty much find any picture or pattern you want and put it on an oldschool projecter, trace it on the wall, and then paint in the lines and wallahhhh! Seems easy enough.

Okay ladies and gentlemen this may not be perfect (may not be who am I kidding....it definitely isn't) but anyhow, this was my first digital scrap page! It took me an hour. I hope to get better and faster at this. All of the sudden I feel the need to create.......sew, cook, and craft. So this new hobby is a result. But seriously I have needed to do this for awhile. I really didn't have a lot of Christmas pictures to choose from because Sierra changed the setting on my camera before she left town and I couldn't figure out how to change it back and it was taking horrible shots. I am not being byast(spelling?).....my other kids were not with us for Christmas and when they opened their gifts my camera was missing(hidden by Sierra). Which explains their absence in the Christmas scrap page.

The Ports have had a year full of changes! We sent Boden off to college, added baby #7, sold our house, and looked for new job oppurtunities! Together we are getting through it. I love these kids more than anything! Thier smiling faces get me through anything and I am so proud of all of them. Jeff and I just celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary on Dec.1st. I am amazed how fast time has flown by. Happy to still be in love......happy about the experiences we have shared....happy to look forward to our future together.

Life is Tough!

It really seems to me that everyone I know right now is having challenges! And not just small ones! It is ever aparent that the last days are upon us. Even though we are having challenges ourselves I feel very blessed, because thus far I havent had a trial that I wondered if I have what it takes to get through it. "knock on wood." There is so many people right now that need our prayers it almost seems that we should spend the entire day on our knees. So for all of you out there who are having a trying time......know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dalton is playing fall football! His team has only lost 1 game! We are so proud of our Clarkston Cougars!

I love fall and all the things that come along with it. Last Sunday for family night we carved our pumpkins. This is Dalton and Dakota's pumpkins. Preston wanted Mickey mouse this year so I helped him do that. Sierra is the origional one on the right.

It is hard to believe that Parker is now almost 5 months old...jeeesh where does the time go? Parker is growing very tall and skinny! He doesnt sleep through the night, he doesnt eat very well, and sometimes he is just plain cranky...BUT...WE LOVE THIS LITTLE GUY! Parker is an observer. He loves to just sit and watch the other kids and he has now learned that if he fusses he gets mom's attention...smart kid.
Parker seems to be the family favorite and everyone wants to hold him...atleast for a few seconds until they get bored!

Preston turned 4 September 29th. He had a fun birthday party at McDonalds with all of the kids in his sunbeam class. Preston is mr.social butterfly and loves having friends! Some of the things Preston enjoys are his mommy, reece's peanut butter cups, playschool, mcdonalds, church, and crowding his baby brother! Preston has waited all year to blow out these candles!

This last week I went to Las Vegas with some of my best friends! I forgot my camera so I counted on thier camera work. We had SO much fun. We stayed at the Trump hotel which was so beautiful from the moment you walked in. We did ALOT of walking and ALOT of eating! This picture was taken in what is usually the "rose garden" but it was all decked out for fall. It was so beautiful.

Vegas may be sin city but it has beauty everywhere! It's not our backsides I am referring to in this shot! Look at the ceiling.

An interesting picture to say the least of 3 of us in our hotel room! There is nothing funner than laying around with 4 ladies talking until you fall asleep!

I also got to go visit my sister and my mom in St.George. She watched Parker for me while I was in Las Vegas. It was so nice to see her and her cute family! Thanks for all you did.

I know it has been awhile since I have posted! Alot has changed. We sold our house and we are now living with Jeff's mom until our new fixer upper is well....fixed up. Everyone seems to be doing well. Boden is off to BYU-Idaho and eager to start the beginning of his own life, we have never had to worry about Boden and we know that he will do great things. Dylan is a Junior in high School and he is playing football. Sierra is a freshman getting used to early morning seminary, she plays volleyball, and the fight of formal dress attire has already begun...fun. Dalton is in 6th grade and he is enjoying playing the trumpet in band and playing football. Dakota is in 5th grade and he is playing soccer as soon as the season begins otherwise he is right there cheering everyone else on. Preston will be 4 in a few weeks, I cant believe it, and he just began playschool at Kingdom kids and he loves it, he wakes up every morning and asks if it is school that day, he really is a social butterfly. Parker is now 4 months and enjoying his first tastes of rice cereal, he enjoys warm baths, and he has recently found his feet. As for Jeff he has been elk hunting but he has yet to shoot one.....hmmmm. As for me I stay busy with all everyone else has going on, I get the occasional girls night out and I am looking forward to a girls weekend in Vegas and a week with my sister and mom in St.George next week, and my dailey workouts.
The Port's have been very blessed and very watched over!

Sierra is on a traveling Softball team called "the Sting" they are a talented group of girls. They have only lost 2 games out of 20. Sierra is vital to the team......we think more vital then she realizes!

Preston is enjoying his new baby brother Parker. Although he cant stand to hear him cry. Once Parker starts crying he usually does too.

We had a fun bridal shower for Jamie Finch, thanks to Cheryl Krohn and Darla McKay! Bridal gowns made out of TP. If the economy doesnt look up this may become more than a game for new brides!

We were in Walla Walla this weekend and Dalton insisted that he take my picture with muffler man!

These are the most important men in my life! All on one couch!

For the Ports our summer so far has been filled with babies, sun, softball,baseball, and friends and family!

Parker Jaxon Port was born at 7:01 pm May 21st 2009. Because I went from a 5 to 10 in about 30 minutes all of my boys were at the hospital in the next room waiting to meet their new brother.It was a long labor but it was almost painless . Parker is a very content baby. He only cries when he is hungry and he only wakes up every 3 to 4 hours.
As you can see Parker resembles the Port side more than Preston did. He has the Port eyes and nose. He has the Arnold Chin (or lack there of). We will see if he grows one.
He was very clean when he entered the world. They really didnt have to clean him at all. They laid him right on me when he came out and I got to adore him for about 20 minutes before they took him away.
So happy that it is OVER!!! I have lots more pics on Sierra's camera.....will put them on when I can. We are so BLESSED to have another sweet spirit join our family!

In March Preston, Dakota, and I went to Sugar City for a week. Preston was so sick the whole time and I was so busy taking care of him that this is the only picture I managed to get the whole trip. Grandma Arnold making caramel popcorn with Preston and Araleigh.

Dalton turned 11, on March 13th. The kids love to light their own candles now that they are old enough! Cake compliments of mom and Preston!

During the month of February we lost Jeff's dad. Our lives have been changed forever. It is a very difficult thing to watch someone slip away. We are so happy to have the knowledge of the gospel and the atonement and know that we will be with him again someday. It has been heart-wrenching to watch Jeff's mom experience losing her sweetheart of 59 years. What a blessing to have eternal marriage. James Port touched many lives with his caring spirit. I know that he is still watching over us everyday.

With February coming to an end I am also knee deep in my college courses and finding lots of work in real estate. I am now 28 weeks along and I cant imagine getting any bigger! If you are lucky I may post a photo of this ever expanding waistline.

The month of March begins soccer, tennis, wrestling, softball, and volleyball. Wish me luck! No not really....wish all my kids luck!

I realize that I have not been a very good blogger! Truthfully I have been very busy with my online schooling, home remodel, work, and a family of 6 soon to be 7 kids! Some of the latest highlights and low-lights in my life have been:

*Filling out Boden's college applications! Crazy......!
*Jeff's dad has been admitted to the hospital in Spokane.
*Since my remodel began I cant stop thinking about things I want for my house! Naughty me!
*Preston told me after a "I love you more" war that he loves me more because he bought me Sinupret. (that kid watches to much tv).
*I finally got our family picture that was taken 2 years ago framed! Time for a new one!
*I have made about 3 visits to goodwill with donations! Yes...love getting rid of JUNK!
*Found $30 worth of change in my purse......that's why it was so heavy!
*I have completed 24 weeks of pregnancy!
*Sierra's basketball team has won all their games, GO LANCERS!!!

Our family had a great Christmas! We started out by going to Sugar City and going to the Arnold family Christmas party. That was a lot of fun for me being that I hadnt seen alot of my family in years! We then headed to St.George, UT where my sister lives. We had a fabulous time eating, shopping, golfing(for the men), and letting our kids fight, I mean play together. My sister in law is really good at updating her blog and she made these picture collages.

Twilight movie

Yesterday was the opening of Twilight. I have to put in my review. Although they left out a few things in the book. I loved, loved it, loved it. Edward had to grow on me a bit but by the end of the movie I got used to him. I knew no matter where they stopped the movie I would want more. And of course I did. If you havent seen it, it is a must see. Even if you havent read the book I think you would enjoy it. Although I think it is 10 times better if you had. We had to wait in a huge line and we were not sure if we were even going to get seats. But it all worked out.

This was my first real outing since my surgeory. For those of you who dont know I went to the hospital about 2 weeks ago in indescribable pain (worse than childbirth). It was on my right side so Jeff was sure it was appendix and insisted we go to the hospital. After starting to throw up because I was in so much pain I finally agreed. I laid in the hospital for 2 days on morphine while they tried to figure out what was wrong with me. My OB was afraid to operate because I was 11 weeks pregnant. But after two days we realised there was no option. So after multiple priesthood blessings and prayers I went into surgeory. Apparently my right ovary being so oversized had turned over on itself and cut off the circulation, so the ovary had died. They removed it. A normal ovary is the size of your thumb and mine wasnt even close to that size. The picture looked like something out of this world. My left ovary is still also enlarged so I am praying that things will go fine and I will be able to keep it. My mom and family came to help me through it and I am so grateful for that. A person who has never had surgeory has no idea what it is like. I am thankful for all of my visitors, calls, and prayers received. Baby is fine and I have been truley blessed.

This year we had Dracula, Superman, and a Hobo Clown.
They worked very hard on their pumpkins. Dalton and Cody did most of the work themselves this year!
This was Preston's first year of really trick or treating. The rain put a little damper on it but he was a little trooper. He didnt want to stop trick or treating. Dylan helped him with his pumpkin this year.

Tomorrow I will be 9 weeks pregnant. It is still early and I am not spreading the news to everyone. But most of you who are bloggers already know.So I thought it would be fun to share my ultrasound pics, since most people dont usually get early ultrasounds like I did.

Phantom

On Friday I went to Phantom of the Opera in Spokane with a couple of friends. It was so amazing. I had seen Phantom as a kid but I did not remember all of the little amazing things they do during the play. I bought the CD about a month before to brush up on the music. The singing was unbelievable of course. Although most everyone was dressed in "black tie" attire, so even in a Sunday dress, I felt under-dressed.
We had a fun weekend filled with fun,food, laughter, shopping, and Phantom.

I spend last most of last week and all of last weekend in Spokane. A few things I did were(in no paticular order):
*Went to the temple and did a session for the 1st time in a long time.
*Went to "pig out in the park" and had so much Yummy food
*Went to the mall and spoiled Sierra. (its so much easier to spoil my kids than myself)
*Ate at Chillis, Pizza Rita, Red Robin, and Olive garden. (healthy weekend as you can see)
*Saw "Housebunny" for the 2nd time and "Rocker" for the 1st (Rocker is good, & so funny)
*Puked infront of my husband in the car on the way home from a Spokane trip. (SEXY!!!)
*Saw my friend Natalies cute littile new bundle of joy.
*Watched episode after episode of "meet the kardashians" stuck in a hotel room.

Other than the puking part my week doesnt sound half bad!!!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

So I got up this morning and decided to make my beehives Choc. Chip cookies for class tomorrow. I tried a new recipe from "good things catered." They were very good. I will definately make them again. Also you can use salted butter you just dont add the salt it calls for.

Ingredients:

2 cups plus 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

12 Tbsp (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted & cooled until warm

1 c brown sugar, packed

1/2 c granulated sugar

1 large egg plus 1 yolk

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:-Adjust oven racks to upper & lower -middle positions & heat oven to 325. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.-Whisk dry ingredients together; set aside.-With electric mixer, or by hand, mix butter & sugars until thoroughly combined. -Beat in egg, yolk and vanilla until combined. -Add dry ingredients & beat at low speed just until combined. Stir in chips.-Roll scant 1/2 cup dough into ball. Holding dough ball in fingertips of both hands, pull into 2 equal halves. Rotate halves 90 degrees and, with jagged surfaces facing up, place formed dough onto cookie sheet, leaving ample room between each ball.-Bake, reversing position of cookie sheets halfway through baking, until cookies are light golden brown and outer edges start to harden yet centers are still soft & puffy (about 17 minutes in my oven). -Cool cookies on sheets until able to lift without breaking and place on wire rack to cool.

Here is a recipe for a yummy fruit dip. I love fruit and I love the classic cream cheese dip, but if you are looking for something differant at your next event try this one out!

Ingredients:
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:
In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth. Mix in confectioners' sugar, brown sugar and vanilla. Stir in chocolate chips. Cover, and chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Shape chilled cream cheese mixture into a ball. Wrap with plastic, and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour. Roll the cheese ball in finely chopped pecans before serving.

I know what you are thinking....Boden cannot be a senior this year. Because that is the way that I feel. But he is! He just had his senior pictures taken this week and here is one of my favorites. It is really hard to believe that he is so grown up. Although he always has the dirtiest room and cant wash a dish without being told to save his life. There will really be an empty place in our home once he is gone. So I am going to do my best to savor this year with him. It makes me get emotional just thinking about it. But he is so exeptional, he is one of those kids that you really dont have to worry about. I know that whatever he decides to do and wherever he decides to go that he will be ok.

Yesterday was my father in laws birthday...Happy Birthday shout out to Pops. So on Sunday night it was Jeff and my turn for dinner and so I made grandpas cake. He is diabetic and so he can have things as long as they are half the sugar as normal. So I had a few of these in my cupboard that I bought a while ago and decided to try it out. We had the devils food...and it was so yummy. It didnt rise as high as a normal cake..but really I dont think anybody new the differance. Great find if you are looking to cut out some sugar as it uses Splenda Sweetener.

Sometimes when I get home from teaching my beehives on Sundays I want to go find a big rock and hide under it. Sometimes I forget being that age and feeling like what my teachers had to tell me was a waste of time. It is hard to get 12 yr old girls excited about most of the things I am supposed to teach them. Today I had to beg them for answers and participation. I know it will all be important to them someday. It just makes me crazy to think that maybe they will make some of the same mistakes I did. I look at them and see so much potential and such a bright future. Why cant they see what I see?

They won districts last weekend(as a result the team got to shave my husbands head-YIKES-) and we are headed to state in Vancouver this weekend. I finally found that yellow bathing suit I have been searching high and low for. I am praying it will be a little longer on me than the model ( I ordered the top a little bigger). Having a pool in your backyard it just isnt enough to have one bathing suit. So I have retired a few...I am missing a few...and tu-duhhhh. I found one I am in love with finally for this summer. If I am really brave I may post a pic when I get it.....! Yeah for good finds.

Happy 5th of July I guess. We had a quite but nice 4th of July. My plan was to go to the firework show and not waste any of our money on fireworks. Of course Jeff had another idea. I went out to my pool house yesterday morning to find boxes and boxes of Reservation fireworks. So Jeff and I went to lunch at Applebees and then went shorts shopping for him, which was nice. Then we came home and took a 4th of July nap. We then had family over for a bbq....and swimming. We had a fire in our fire pit and roasted marshmellows. Of course Jeff didnt think we had enough sparklers so he had to run and get some more...sparklers...ya right he came back with more bags full. So as soon as it was dark Jeff started his show. We did have one fire that was quickly put out thank goodness. But after about 3o minutes Preston and I had, had enough...so we came in and went to bed. I asked Preston this morning what he thought of the fireworks last night and he said "Scarey."

Some things you just cant Replace!

I have created a child that things everything can be replaced. We have replaced many things in his 2 year lifetime...many of which were broken or lost by him. His answer to everything that we cant find or doesnt work is "Lets go buy a new one."
Well, the other night Jeff had all our windows open to cool down the house, I was mortified when I looked up to see Preston sitting in the window seal leaning against the window screen. As we were in my bedroom that is 2 stories up and his landing would have been hard pavement. So, I screamed Jeff ran and got him out of the window and then showed him by doing a demonstration what could happen...Jeff leaned on the screen broke it loose and leaned out and explained that if Preston or dad had fallen out they would be seriously hurt or die. After our heart attack was over..Preston came over to me and questioned, "Daddy will die?" and I said if daddy dies we wont have a daddy anymore. He quickly replied, " We will just have to go to the store and get a new daddy." It didnt matter how much I tried to explain to him that people are not replaceable, he just didnt get it.

So did you all hear the letter from the First Presidency about debt....? The first presidency has been telling us for years to get out of debt but today at church during our third hour..our bishop gave us strict instruction on finances. He told us that the only debt allowable is a modest home, modest transportation, and education. All other items are considered unnecessary debt and we must pay them off. It really put me into perspective. I have been begging my husband for a new car (which I don't really need). And after today's lesson I was put into my place, I wont be bringing up a new car anytime soon. He also talked about the importance of a budget. We don't have a steady income so having a budget is hard. He gave us key counsel, "When you have money spend it..and when you don't stop." This is hard for me because I can always talk myself into believing that a new shirt or new shoes is an emergency and I can always pay it off later. Its going to take a lot of prayer to help me with this one. BTW I got a new calling today..Beehive advisor. I am SUPER excited. I have been in activity days for 4 years. So here's to spending less money and increasing my savings account.

Time Out for Lacey!!!

I had a great weekend getaway. I went up to Spokane with a group of friends Friday afternoon. We spent the aftrnoon shopping and then we ate an amazing dinner at the Onion(best onion rings I have ever had). I have been dying to see the "Other Boleyn Girl" but it hasnt come to where I live so we went to that Friday night. It was NOT the feel good movie of the year! It was not the love story I expected. So after our interesting movie we went to our Hotel.....The Davenport. It was the most beautiful amazing hotel I have ever been to. There was detail in everything. You felt like royalty staying there. We were touring and snooping around the hotel until around 1 am. It was so fun. Saturday morning we got up and went to timout for women..which was amazing. There was such great messages..many of which I am going to begin implementing. The only bad thing about the whole weekend is that Saturday I started feeling sick...SO SICK...I spent all of yesterday in bed, and I am still feeling crumby today. If any of you have the oppurtunity to attend a time out for women I strongly suggest it.

My newest favorite commercial is the arbys commercial where a hot chick walks by a group of construction workers and they dont bat an eye...but then a fat bald guy walks by with arbys and they start whistlin and getting all excited...laugh everytime..love it.

Which Napolean Dynomite character do you see yourself as? ( I changed the movie in this question). I think I would characterize myself as Deb...never to sure of herself, doesnt care about fitting in, and loves a nerd. HeHeHe

Oh so yummy! I got this idea from Sugar & Spice...and I had to make snacks for my activity day girls last night so I thought I would give them a whirl..I didn't follow her recipe I just kind of made my own. The girls loved them, and so did my family.

Condensed version:

Graham cracker crust (crushed graham crackers, sugar, melted butter) Bake @ 300 for 20.

Brownies mix ( I used a store bought) put onto cooked crust..bake around 50 min.

Large marshmallows (After brownies are cooked place on top and broil, they brown fast so watch them.

Lacey Adele Port (Arnold)- Well I am not sure where my first name came from..I know
that my mom wanted to name me Christina Sunshine...I am so glad she didnt I dont think
it fits me. My middle name came from my Grandma Arnolds relative..when I was younger
I hated it. I once even voiced infront of my grandmother how much I hated it, but I didnt
know it came from her family. Now that I am older I have warmed up to it. My husband even
calls me "Adele". My husband recently built storage units, and named them Adeles.

Preston James Port- Preston got his first name from my maternal grandfather..I didnt know
him very well he died when I was young. The task of naming him seemed impossible but
when he was born the nurse asked me what is name was going to be and Preston came out, so thats what he is. He got his middle name from my dad and Jeffs dad..they are both named James. (nickname: Pdiddy)

2 packages (3 oz each) cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cups miniature or regular semisweet chocolate chips
1 box Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® devil's food cake mix
1 1/3 cups water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 container Betty Crocker® Rich & Creamy or Whipped vanilla frosting

1. Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Place paper baking cup in each of 24 regular-size muffin cups.
2.In medium bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar and 1 egg with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Stir in 1 cup of the chocolate chips; set aside.
3.In large bowl, beat cake mix, water, oil and 3 eggs on low speed 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes. Divide batter among muffin cups (1/4 cup in each). Top each with 1 heaping teaspoon cream cheese mixture.
4.Bake 17 to 22 minutes or until tops spring back when touched lightly. Cool 10 minutes in pan. Remove from pan; cool completely, about 30 minutes.
5.Frost with frosting. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Store loosely covered in refrigerator.
High Altitude (3500-6500 ft): Makes 30 cupcakes.

I woke up mortified at 5am this morning. I realized that I had fallen asleep watching TV before I put Preston to bed. I was hoping Jeff had taken care of it, but with Jeff you never know. So I ran to Prestons crib and he wasnt in there.....great...I was imagining him roaming the house all night getting into things. The next place I knew to look was Sierra's bed, sure enough he was sleeping soundly snuggled up with his sister in her bed. Sigh of relief. It warms my heart to see how much love Preston has for Sierra. He asks all day "where is my sissy?" and when she has friends over he is their shadow and often comes to me wearing makeup and nail polish from a night hanging out with the girls. I know it isnt always fun for Sierra to have to deal with a 2 year old brother...but it is a relationship that is irreplaceable. She wont realize it until she is older. Now that I am older I cherish the times I had with my youger brothers. Cory always used to go on adventures with me..you could find us trekking the backyard, trying to swim in the neighbors pool(cory ruined that one jumping in the pool with the pool cover still on), and on Sunday we would play restaurant and make food out of dirt and plants..gotta love Sundays. Bryce well he was always my favorite volunteer for hair and makeup, he would allow me and my friends to dress him like a girl and everything....his willingness used to make us nervous but I think he turned out pretty darn well. Bryce was also always singing and making us laugh. Trenton, well he shared a room with me from birth to about 4 I think. It was so hard when my parents made me break that habit..when I think of Trenton I think of Power Rangers..he was obsessed. I loved taking care of him like he was my own. And Alex, well I was so excited the day Alex came to us..we wanted him for so long. He was like 1 1/2 but we treated him like a baby for a while because we wanted it to last. He always said "HUH?" And he is the only 2 year old I knew that could down a Burger King Whopper!!!! Good times!

I am in love with the store Traditions in Sugar City Idaho...I am so excited to be going this spring. I got a tile with our name on it from here that I put on our front porch but during a windstorm it broke..so I am in need of a replacement. When I think of Sugar City I think of Traditions..so if you are ever in Rexburg, mosey about 3 miles to Sugar City and visit this store..you wont regret it but your pocket book might.

1 Gold medal, 1 Silver Medal!

So yesterday was a great day of wrestling. Dalton got first (the gold medal) winning all three matches, and Dakota got Second winning his first two..and losing his last match but with great effort (the silver medal). It was a great day because Cody medaled for the first time...he didnt even know what to do when he got onto the platform. They are always winners in my book...but yesterday they had a medal to show for it.

I love downeast outfitters..unfortunately I dont live near one so I have to online shop or shop when I go to southern Idaho. I got an email today...the SPRING line is in! For those of you who dont know

Preston very well. We should have made "Clean"his middle name. As you can see in the backround of this pic he has many toys but he would prefer to play with his beloved vacuum, dust pan, and cleaning wipes. This picture of his dust pan is classic. For his 2nd Birthday he got his very own real vacuum..and his b-day cake featured him vacuuming. Every time we go to a restaurant he takes it upon himself to find the vacuum and he starts vacuuming right away. I am thinking that by the time he is old enough to really clean he wont want to anymore..either that or we will have a janitor for a son. Either way we love our little Helper!

Wrestling!

Its that time of year when we spend lots of time around the mat. Dylan has just finished his high school season and Dalton and Dakota have just started thiers. Dylan did very well...he was the only freshman that wrestled primarily varsity matches. We just had a tournament here this weekend for the little guys. Dalton got first place and was very proud..he has yet another bracket sheet to add to his covered wall. Dakota did really well...he won his first match and struggled in his last two. Dakota is very soft hearted and takes losing very personally, so it is hard to watch him lose. Dylan gave me the shock of my life yesterday when he informed me that he was not going to play baseball but that he was going to do freestyle wrestling. We will see how that goes.

Happy Valentines Day! I have to admit this is a commercialized holiday that I truley LOVE!!! I got the shock of my life last night when my husband suprised me with a necklace for Valentines Day! Shocked for three reasons 1; he never plans ahead...people a this was a whole day early 2; He was excited about his gift and couldnt wait to give it to me...and he doesnt get excited easily. 3: I told him that I didnt want anything material..so apparently that is how you get your husband to buy you something, you tell him not to. He was so proud of himself that he couldnt stop smiling and neither could I. Here is the bad news! I am so used to him not making a big deal out of things...that I had not got him anything yet. And I still havent. He is so hard to buy things for. I am pretty sure that there is only one thing that a man wants on Valentines Day anyway..but I figure after Preston gets up from his nap I will run get him something...what I dont know either.
